Privacy policy

This is an English translation of the French privacy policy. In the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

This page describes the data we collect when you make a quote request, submit a project from your account, join the network of tradespeople or write to us, and how that data is used.

Data controller

Data collected

  • Quote request: type of work and answers to the related questions (area, surface, number of spaces…), region and town, timeframe, budget (optional), description and photos (optional), first name, phone number, email address (optional, unless you choose to be contacted by email), preferred contact method (WhatsApp, call or email) and callback time slot, the indicative estimate calculated from your answers (it is not shown to you), the page you started from (home page, a service page or an advertising page) and, if you arrive through an ad, the version of the page it showed you, as well as the date and version of your consent. The source of your visit is stored with the request: the campaign named in the link you followed (“utm” parameters), the click identifier added by Google or Meta if you arrive through one of their ads, the site you came from (without the details of its address) and the first page you viewed. No account is created and no cookie is set.
  • Project submission from your account: first name, last name, email address, phone number (optional), project description, town, type of work, planned budget (optional).
  • Tradesperson registration: company name, contact name, business email address, phone number, trade, region and town of operation, description of the business.
  • Project follow-up: messages exchanged and progress of each stage.
  • Contact form: name, email address, phone number (optional), message.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Reviewing your request, calling you back and preparing the visit: your consent, given when you submit the request, and the performance of pre-contractual measures.
  • Following up the project and enabling exchanges between the parties involved: performance of the service requested.
  • Replying to your messages: legitimate interest in handling the enquiries we receive.

Recipients

Your information is accessible to the Nova team and, once your project has been assigned, to the company selected for that project only. Tradespeople are not listed in any public directory and only have access to the projects entrusted to them. No data is sold or transferred for advertising purposes. Only Google and Meta receive, with your consent, the measurements described under “Cookies and audience measurement”.

Photos attached to a quote request are not published: they are stored away from any public address and sent to our agent by email, together with your request. If you choose to be contacted on WhatsApp, the exchanges go through that service, which is subject to its own terms.

Retention periods

  • Requests not followed up: 24 months from the last exchange.
  • Completed projects: 10 years, to meet the obligations relating to the work.
  • Contact form messages: 12 months.
  • Inactive accounts: deleted after 36 months without signing in, after prior notice.

Cookies and audience measurement

On your first visit, a window asks for your choice. You can accept everything, reject everything in one click, or choose category by category. This choice is kept on your device for six months, after which you are asked again. You can change it at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

  • Necessary, always active: a technical sign-in cookie, used only when you access your account. It expires after 24 hours and can only be read by the server. Your cookie choice is itself stored in your browser. The source of your visit (see “Data collected”) is kept in the open tab for the duration of the visit, to go with a quote request: it is not read by any third party and disappears when the tab is closed.
  • Audience measurement, with your consent: Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) counts visits and identifies useful pages and submitted requests, to improve the site. Its cookies (_ga) are kept for 13 months at most. With this consent or the “Advertising” one, the source of your visit is also kept for 90 days in your browser, so that it can go with a request made on a later visit; withdrawing your consent erases it.
  • Advertising, with your consent: Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd) and the Meta pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd, for Facebook and Instagram) measure the effectiveness of our ads, that is, how many requests they brought in. Their cookies (_gcl, _fbp) are kept for 90 days. When a request is sent, the email address and phone number entered may be passed to Google in an irreversibly encrypted form (hashing), so that the request can be linked to the ad without sending your details in plain text.

Until you have accepted a category, no tool that depends on it is loaded: the site does not contact Google or Meta. If you withdraw your consent, measurement stops immediately and the cookies concerned are deleted. Rejecting cookies does not prevent you from using the site or requesting a quote.

Google and Meta process this data under their own policies and may transfer it outside Mauritius and the European Union, in particular to the United States, with the safeguards provided for by the regulations (standard contractual clauses).

Security

Exchanges are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored as irreversible hashes, and access to data is restricted to the people who need it to handle your request.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, or the restriction of its processing, or object to that processing, and you may withdraw at any time the consent given when making a quote request. Write to novarenovation.mu@gmail.com: you will receive a reply within 30 days. You may also refer the matter to the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.
