FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your renovation questions.

How much does a full renovation cost?

The price of a full renovation in Mauritius depends on the area, the condition of the property (house, villa or apartment), the work included and the finishes chosen. Our agent tours the whole property during a free visit, then draws up a detailed, itemised quote, with no obligation.

What does a full renovation with Nova include?

A full renovation with Nova brings together every trade: demolition and masonry, electrics and plumbing, suspended ceilings, rendering, painting, tiling, kitchen, bathroom, joinery, walk-in wardrobes and cupboards. Nova coordinates the teams and you keep a single point of contact, from the quote to handing over the keys. Decoration and outdoor landscaping can be added to the same schedule.

Can you also do the decoration?

Yes. Nova can take care of the decoration at the same time as the renovation, in the same schedule: colours, materials, lighting, wardrobes and storage are chosen with you from the quote stage. You get back a home in Mauritius ready to live in, not a building site to furnish. Decoration can also be requested on its own.

Do you take on single-trade jobs?

Yes: Nova also takes on single-trade jobs in Mauritius, such as plumbing or electrics on their own, without renovating the whole house. Our agent comes to see what is needed and draws up a quote for that job alone.

How does a full renovation work?

Our agent first tours the whole property and notes what you want, decoration included. You then receive a detailed, itemised quote, with a clear schedule for each trade. During the works, Nova organises the teams and sends you progress photos, through to the final walkthrough and handing over the keys.

How long does the project take?

How long a full renovation takes depends on the area, the condition of the property and the work planned. The schedule for each trade comes with Nova’s quote, after the visit.

Can I live in the house during the renovation?

That depends on the scale of the renovation: some projects can be organised room by room, others require the house to be vacated during the heaviest work (demolition, floors, pipework and wiring). Our agent discusses this with you during the visit and adapts the schedule to keep disruption to a minimum.

Can I follow a renovation in Mauritius from abroad?

Yes, it’s possible: Nova coordinates the project on site and sends you progress photos, and our agent keeps you updated on WhatsApp or by phone. Mention in the quote request that you are abroad so you can arrange the property visit together.

Can the renovation be done in stages?

Yes: the detailed, itemised quote lets you set priorities, for example plumbing, electrics and waterproofing first, then the kitchen, bathroom and decoration. Our agent helps you put the work in the right order so nothing that has just been finished has to be undone.

Do I need permission to renovate?

That depends on the work and the local authority: an interior renovation doesn’t involve the same formalities as an extension, a change to the façade or a new roof. In Mauritius, our agent tells you which formalities to plan for during the visit, before the work starts.

Do you make bespoke walk-in wardrobes?

Yes: Nova designs and fits bespoke walk-in wardrobes, cupboards and headboards, as part of a renovation or a decoration project in Mauritius. They are designed to go with the room’s decor and, in a humid climate, with good ventilation for clothes.

Do you install solar panels?

Yes: Nova installs solar panels on the roof, on the façade, on the ground, on a carport or on a metal structure, and can include them in a full renovation in Mauritius. Our agent looks at orientation and location during the visit.

How do I get a quote for a full renovation in Mauritius?

For a full renovation, describe your project in a few clicks in Nova’s quote request, with photos of the rooms to be renovated if you can. Our agent will call you back within 24 to 72 hours, on WhatsApp or by phone, to arrange a free visit anywhere in Mauritius. You then receive a detailed, itemised quote, free and with no obligation.

Do you work all over the island?

Yes, Nova works across the whole of Mauritius: the North (Grand Baie, Triolet, Pereybère), the West (Tamarin, Flic-en-Flac, Rivière Noire), the Centre (Moka, Quatre Bornes, Curepipe), the East (Flacq, Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce) and the South (Mahébourg, Souillac, Bel Ombre). Give your town or village in the quote request: our agent will call you back within 24 to 72 hours to arrange a free visit to your home.
