Your kitchen questions.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
The price of a bespoke kitchen in Mauritius depends on the layout (single-wall, L-shaped, U-shaped or with an island), the length, the fronts, the worktop, the splashback, the appliances and any plumbing and electrical work. Our agent takes measurements during a free visit, then draws up a detailed, itemised quote, with no obligation.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Bespoke kitchens are designed and fitted by Nova’s own teams, with no subcontracting, plumbing and electrics included. You keep a single point of contact in Mauritius, from the plan to the final finishing touch.
Can you renovate an existing kitchen?
Yes: Nova also renovates existing kitchens in Mauritius, replacing the fronts, the worktop or the splashback, or adding an island. During the visit, our agent tells you what can be kept (units, pipework and wiring, appliances) and what needs replacing.
Single-wall, L-shaped, U-shaped or island: which layout should I choose?
A single-wall kitchen suits narrow rooms or ones open to the living area; an L-shaped kitchen uses a corner and frees up space for a table; a U-shaped kitchen offers the most worktop and storage; an island creates a sociable space for cooking and entertaining, as long as there is enough room to move around it. Our agent designs the layout of your bespoke kitchen around the room and your habits.
Which worktop should I choose: quartz, granite, marble or timber?
Quartz is low-porosity and easy to look after; granite, a very hard natural stone, copes well with heat and scratches; marble, very elegant, is more prone to stains and to acids such as lemon juice; timber brings warmth but needs regular oiling. Our agent talks you through these worktops and their upkeep while designing your kitchen.
Which materials stand up to the heat and humidity of Mauritius?
In a kitchen in Mauritius, heat and humidity put the fronts, units and joints to the test. Nova chooses with you materials suited to damp rooms, provides an effective cooker hood or ventilation and takes care over sealing around the sink and worktop. Good ventilation remains the best defence against condensation.
Are plumbing and electrics included?
Yes: before fitting a bespoke kitchen, Nova redoes the water supply, drainage, sockets and circuits needed for the appliances. That is what allows the sink, hob or island to go where the plan puts them, once our agent has checked. Everything is in the itemised quote.
Are the appliances included in the plan?
Yes: oven, hob, cooker hood, fridge or dishwasher are chosen with you at the kitchen plan stage, so the housings, sockets and drains are in the right place. Our agent builds the appliances into the plan and the quote for your bespoke kitchen in Mauritius.
How long does a bespoke kitchen take?
How long a bespoke kitchen project takes depends on the design, the lead times for units and materials, any plumbing and electrical work, and then the fitting. Timescales are set out in Nova’s quote, once the plan is approved.
Can the kitchen be opened up to the living room?
Yes: as part of a renovation in Mauritius, Nova can open up a partition to create a kitchen open to the living room, then redo the floor, ceiling and lighting. Our agent checks during the visit whether the wall can be opened and what needs to be planned.
What should I prepare before the visit for a kitchen?
A few photos of the room, its approximate dimensions, pictures of kitchens you like, the list of appliances you want and an idea of budget help our agent prepare for the visit. Attach them to the quote request or send them on WhatsApp. During the free visit, our agent measures the room and surveys the water supply, sockets and drainage.
How do I get a quote for a bespoke kitchen in Mauritius?
For a bespoke kitchen, describe your project in a few clicks in Nova’s quote request, with photos of the room if you can. Our agent will call you back within 24 to 72 hours, on WhatsApp or by phone, to arrange a free visit anywhere in Mauritius. You then receive a detailed, itemised quote, free and with no obligation.
Do you work all over the island?
Yes, Nova works across the whole of Mauritius: the North (Grand Baie, Triolet, Pereybère), the West (Tamarin, Flic-en-Flac, Rivière Noire), the Centre (Moka, Quatre Bornes, Curepipe), the East (Flacq, Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce) and the South (Mahébourg, Souillac, Bel Ombre). Give your town or village in the quote request: our agent will call you back within 24 to 72 hours to arrange a free visit to your home.
